If you get the feeling that you are getting bored of a particular set of work then you can never grow in particularly that domain.

To achieve great success, you need to enjoy the work you do.

Most importantly, boredom is NOT only related to work and profession. If your personal life is not exciting then it can NOT only lead to boredom but also can to further complications.

Every one experience boredom at some point of time in life. You need to keep a track of your boredom before it intensifies.

Long-term exposure to boredom is not good for both physical and mental health.

Tension: It is one of the common symptoms of psychological stress. At times, stress is good for an individual. You must be thinking that if tension is so good then how can it be a common symptom of tension?

Yes! you are right, Guys...

The problem arises when either the stress is of high intensity or a long-term or a combination of both.

Some of the common cause of tension- a psychological stress symptom is:

  • Troubled personal relationship.
  • Personality clashes.
  • Excessive competition.
Before we move further, let's have a look on some of the handpicked articles.

Anxiety: An exposure to stress for a long time can lead to anxiety. The problem of anxiety is the result of one's inability to cope with stress. Anxiety can lead to social isolation. The worst thing about untreated anxiety is that it can lead to a high level of depression resulting in an attempt to do suicide. Many anxiety victims take help of narcotic drugs for relaxation.

The best thing is that most people can cope with anxiety with proper physical and mental preparation.

It has been found that in most of the cases anxiety-related disorders doesn't go over time but in contrast, it can NOT only get worse over a period of time but can also influence your life to such an extent that you will feel difficult to perform some common day-to-day task.

Depression: It can be defined as a common psychological stress symptom which can affect the way you feel, think, and act towards a particular problem. Insecurity: You can think of insecurity as an outcome of many different psychological stress symptoms.

Insecurity can make you feel that your performance is NOT up to the mark and you are not giving hundred percent.

Do you find yourself low on confidence?

Do you feel overweight, guilty, ugly or stupid?

Are you afraid of interacting with new people?

It is normal to feel insecure sometime but when you start feeling insecure most of the time and for most of the thing then something is definitely wrong with you.

Let's discuss three common cause of insecurity.

Insecurity based on recent failures or rejections: Researchers have confirmed that 40 percent of the "happiness quotient" is based on one's current life events.

Do you know the negative contributor to happiness?

To name a few that negatively contribute to happiness are an end of a long-term relationship, death of a spouse, losing a job, severe health problem.

I am sharing with you some of the steps that can help you to reduce the feeling of insecurity.

psychological effect of stress

  • Give time to yourself.
  • Engage with your life and follow your passion.
  • Keep learning new tools and strategies.
  • Get feedback from your loved ones.

Lack of confidence because of social anxiety: The feeling of getting isolated and ignored in the social gathering due to the lack of self-confidence can lead to many severe complications.

Self-conscious and anxious is the outcome of the fear of getting evaluated by others in the social gathering.

Distorted belief about self-worth and a fear of "what people will think and talk about me" can be problematic at times.

It has also been found that in many cases past experience of schools and colleges has played a crucial role in aggravating the feeling of social anxiety.

You will NOT believe but many of my friends have time and again accept the negative impact of being bullied or excluded from the friend circle during their school and college days.

Below are some of the things that you can do to prevent social anxiety:

  • Try to connect to your old friends and critics and take their honest feedback. Next step will be to shortlist some of the important feedbacks and start working on it.
  • It's always better to set yourself a realistic goal to reduce social anxiety. For example, talking to two new people every day.
  • You will not believe but avoiding social gathering is NOT the solution. It's better to be well prepared in advance for the social gathering. Attending the social gathering will NOT only reduce your anxiety level but will also help you to strengthen and extend your social circle.

Insecurity driven by perfectionism: I want to be a PERFECT person. I want to do anything or everything perfectly. Both the statements are the example of insecurity, driven by perfectionism.

There is NOTHING like perfectionism. Everything is relative. Change is the only constant in the whole universe.

Assuming that the working day and night can give you a perfect house, perfect salary, perfect children, perfect wife and so on...

Then it is a wrong assumption. Everything is NOT under your control. Definitely, we can work hard to achieve something but not everything.

You can't ask anyone to fall in love with you just because you work day and night at your office.

It's always good to have high expectation with oneself BUT the expectation shouldn't be unrealistic.

Trying to be perfect in something which is NOT at all in your scope can be problematic.

Let's discuss some points that can help you to reduce the feeling of perfectionism.

  • Try to evaluate yourself on a timely basis.
  • Ask yourself the definition of perfectionism.
  • Try to understand the tradeoff between perfectionism and time.
  • Try to focus on inner qualities like character, sincerity, or good values rather than running behind the materialistic pleasure.
  • Ask yourself, can I live my happily even though I am NOT the best employee in the office?
  • Ask yourself, how much difference will it make if the work is 10 percent better?

Important psychological stress symptoms

The best example to explain "meaninglessness" is an IT project. It will be difficult for most of the software engineer working on a particular project to know about the project. The entire project is divided into small projects and given to these software engineers. So, it has been found that these engineers at time feel that they are worthless and the project they are doing is meaningless and of minimal value addition.

Powerlessness: Most of the jobs have strict working hours and conditions. Most of these jobs don't give flexibility to their employees. For example, some jobs demand employee presence even in the times when the employee is NOT feeling well.

I have seen people feeling tensed and powerless because of the working style of the company.

important symptoms of psychological stress

Disengagement: Definitely, it's an important reason for psychological stress. Try to understand that when employees are disengaged they see the job as just a medium to earn money. In layman language, when an employee is not motivated or inspired then he is simply disengaged.

This disengagement can affect the employee overall performance. Due to degradation in the performance, the employee may feel insecure due to the probability of losing the job.

Isolation:  This kind of problem can occur when an employee is working from a remote place or the employee is not in direct contact with the senior management. Many of the startup's companies have only one person for a particular job role. At times, it just a one-man show. In these type of condition, an employee can feel aloof and isolated. He can feel that there is no one with whom he can share his problems, achievements etc.

Conclusion: It's not easy to identify the psychological symptoms of stress. It is the patient or the person suffering from psychological stress to meet the psychiatrist and explain the situation. No one can access the inner working of anyone's mind. There is definitely chances that these symptoms are a result of some other problems as the symptoms that we have discussed here isn't solely for psychological stress. But in case anyone is experiencing a combination of these symptoms for a prolonged time then definitely it's a point of concern.
